1. Acceptance
These terms apply to the Liminon macOS application and to liminon.ai. By downloading, installing, or using Liminon, or by submitting the waitlist form on this site, you agree to them.
2. Beta status
Liminon is in public beta: the current build is provided as-is and is free to download and try while we test it on real research projects. Features may change, and you should keep your own backups of anything important. Beta testers who were using Liminon before the 1.0 launch will receive a complimentary license key for the full release — there's nothing to do now; watch for an email at the address you signed up with.
3. Licenses and purchases
Liminon is sold as a one-time, perpetual license — not a subscription — at the pricing published on our pricing page. A license covers free updates through the v1.x line and lets you install the app on any Mac you personally use. Lab, department, or company site licenses are arranged by emailing [email protected].
Purchases are handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle takes the payment, charges any VAT or sales tax due in your country, and issues the receipt or invoice; your contract for the payment is with Paddle, while the software licence itself comes from us. Your license key is emailed to you after the order is confirmed. While Liminon is in beta the app runs unlocked, so a purchase made today is an early licence for the same product you can already download and use.
4. Refunds
Every purchase carries a 30-day, no-questions-asked money-back guarantee. Email [email protected] from the address you bought with, or use the contact link on your Paddle receipt, within 30 days of the order; we refund the full amount to the original payment method, and Paddle processes it. You don't have to explain why, and nothing is deducted. After 30 days we'll still look at genuine problems case by case — write to us.
5. Your data is yours
Everything you create in Liminon — recordings, transcripts, codes, findings, exports — belongs to you. It's stored in project files on your own disk, and we claim no rights to it. You're free to copy, back up, migrate, or delete it at any time; see our privacy policy for how project data is stored.
6. AI features and local models
Liminon's AI-assisted coding and theme-discovery features run through a local model via Ollama, which you install separately under Ollama's own license terms. No interview content is sent to any cloud AI provider by Liminon. AI output is a starting point, not a finding — you're responsible for reviewing and validating any AI-suggested code, theme, or summary before relying on it in your research.
7. Research and compliance responsibilities
Liminon is a tool, not a compliance guarantee. Because recordings and transcripts stay on your Mac by default, many researchers find it fits cleanly into protocols that require participant data to remain on a single, non-networked device — but IRB approval, informed consent, and data-handling compliance for your specific study are your responsibility, not ours.
8. Acceptable use
Liminon is licensed for personal, academic, and commercial research use. You agree not to:
- decompile, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the app's licensing beyond what your jurisdiction's law explicitly permits;
- redistribute or rebrand Liminon as your own product;
- use Liminon to process content that violates the law in your jurisdiction, or that you don't have the right to analyze (for example, recordings made without required consent).
9. Disclaimers and liability
Liminon is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of AI-generated suggestions, for research conclusions you draw using the app, or for indirect or consequential damages arising from its use, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date, and significant changes will be noted on the website or in-app.
