What Dovetail does well
- Breadth of sources. Its home page describes pulling feedback from calls, tickets, surveys and research into one workspace, aimed at designers, product managers, researchers, CX, sales, customer success and marketing teams.
- AI across the workspace. Agents that run on a schedule, chat over first-party data, automatic analysis of feedback, document drafting linked to sources, dashboards (beta) and multilingual translation.
- Enterprise controls. SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR compliance, PII redaction across text, audio and video, configurable retention, data residency in the US, Europe or Australia, SSO and audit logs.
- A stated data position. Customer data is not used to train its models.
Pricing, platforms and a free plan are not stated on the page we read. Its numbers about time saved come from a Forrester study the vendor cites; we have not checked them.
When to choose Dovetail
- Several teams need one searchable repository of customer evidence.
- Your security team requires the certifications above and you are comfortable with US, EU or Australian cloud storage.
- Your work is product discovery rather than a methodologically documented qualitative study.
When Liminon is the better fit

- You need a rigorous coding record. Nested codes, evidence review, case comparison and a methods report with the audit trail of AI accepts and rejects. This is the academic and consulting side of the work, not the feedback-routing side.
- You do not want a platform subscription for a single project. Liminon is $179 once ($129 early-bird, $79 student).
A quick test of which one you need
Ask three things. Who must be able to open the data: one person, or a whole organization? What does the data come from: a handful of recorded interviews, or tickets, surveys and calls arriving every week? And what will you be asked to show afterwards: a defensible codebook and audit trail, or a dashboard of themes? If the answers are one person, a handful of interviews and a codebook, Liminon is the closer fit. If they are an organization, a stream of sources and a dashboard, Dovetail is.
What you give up by switching
Team workspaces, integrations, agents, dashboards, certifications and any non-interview source. Liminon is single-user, Apple Silicon only, and does not import other tools' projects yet.
Moving over
Dovetail's page does not describe a project export format, so plan on the original recordings as the source of truth.
